I'm a retired research biologist (entomologist) for the USDA Agricultural Research Service and Courtesy Professor of Entomology at the University of Florida.  I've always appreciated nature and enjoy the incredible scenery in the vicinity of Misty Laurel, along with the wildlife, including deer, racoons, wild turkeys, bobcats, bear, and many species of birds!  My wife, Jo, is a retired faculty member from Florida State Unversity Dept. of Modern Languages, and is fluent in Spanish and French and can assist guests who prefer to use either of these languages instead of English. …read more

We have two kids and love the Smoky mountains. We dreamed for years of having a cabin. We spent a long time looking at cabins before we chose Mountain Playhouse. There are so many things to do in the area. There is something for everyone.  We also enjoy staying at the cabin.

A little about myself. I am from North Carolina and have had the pleasure of living in the mountains all my life. I bought this cabin in Pigeon Forge because of the easy access to so many things to do. I'ts only about 2 hours from my home in NC so it's a great little getaway. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It's cozy and unique in every way you can imagine. BEST OF ALL~ IT IS VERY CLEAN!!! Come stay and I assure you that you will not want to leave...

We are both retired.  Butch retired from LifeWay Christian Resources, where he served as Senior Manager of Compensation and Benefits for 25 years.

We purchased our cabin in 2010.  It is named Grand Getaway in honor of our 4 grand children.  We love spending time with them, especially at our cabin.

We strive very hard to make Grand Getaway is a wonderful place for our guests.  We want it to be one of the cleaniest and best kept cabins you will ever stay in.

After several months of "rehabbing" our gems on the mountain were complete! We, along with our guests, enjoyed the cabins for two years until the Gatlinburg wildfires took two of them and damaged a third. I can honestly say, this was one tough pill to swallow! So...on January 19th, 2017 (52 days after the fires), we broke ground and began the rebuilt process on Take Me…read more
